Am I Eligible To Donate Blood?

3. Have you received a tattoo, piercing, or acupuncture in the last 6 months?

Standard Guidelines

Donation Frequency

Male donors can donate every 90 days (3 months), and female donors can donate every 120 days (4 months).

Hemoglobin Level

Donors must have a minimum hemoglobin count of 12.5 g/dL to guarantee a safe and healthy donation process.

Strict Deferral Criteria

You must NOT donate blood if you have ever had or currently suffer from:

  • Chronic illnesses (Heart failure, kidney disorders, cancer).
  • Uncontrolled diabetes on insulin therapy.
  • Bloodborne diseases (HIV/AIDS, Hepatitis B or C, Syphilis).
  • Active pulmonary tuberculosis.

Common FAQs

Q: Can I donate after taking medicine?

A: It depends on the medication. Most pain relievers or blood pressure drugs are fine, but antibiotics require waiting 7 days.


Q: Can I donate if I have high blood pressure?

A: Yes, provided your blood pressure is stable and sits within standard bounds (e.g., between 90/60 and 140/90) on the day of donation.
